Save A Child’s Heart is the largest charitable organization in India providing pediatric cardiac care to children suffering from heart diseases. This is a need-based initiative, which covers all aspects of a major socio-economic problem in India (ie) prevention, early diagnosis, treatment and funding for lower socio-economic groups
Pediatric Cardiology has been a neglected specialty in the country despite a massive disease burden. Consanguity, viral infections like mumps, measles and rubella, absolute lack of awareness, high treatment costs are some of the important factors contributing to the high disease burden.
It is estimated that over 200,000 children are born with heart diseases every year and less than 5% of them get optimal care on time. Most of these children succumb to the disease with out celebrating even their first birthday. In contrast if these children receive treatment on time they grow up to become normal adults.
Save A Childs Heart is a story of positive change that will reflect in generations to come. Established in 2003 our initiative has touched the lives of over 50,000 children so far. This success is attributed to many individuals and organizations whose invaluable contributions has shaped the development of Save A Child’s Heart and helped change lives of children we serve.
